Broadband Mobile Wireless Internet
With growing popularity of wireless hotspots, getting internet access while traveling is easier than ever. But if you are working on the go, there will be times when you can't find a wireless hotspot, or even a place to make a dial-up connection. This is when your cell phone can be very helpful. Many modern mobile phones can be used for wireless internet access when connected to a notebook or used together with a wireless card or broadband access card, even when you are not near any conventional broadband access. There are two basic ways to connect to the internet via your mobile phone: connecting it directly to your computer, or using a broadband access card.
Wireless Mobile Internet Technology
To get wireless broadband mobile Internet access, you will need a laptop and a web-enabled cell phone. A web-enabled cell phone is equipped with a data port for syncing with computers, and is capable of sending both voice and data. Most modern cell phones are dual-mode. You will also need a USB cable or special connection kit.
If you have a Bluetooth enabled cell phone and notebook, or a notebook with infrared capability, you will be able to do without cables; if you have a broadband access card, you may not even need your cell phone.
Of course, your mileage will vary depending on your cell phone model and cell phone carrier, so some homework will probably be required.
On the other hand, if your cell phone model is not web-enabled, you may be able to use a broadband access card from your cell phone carrier to give your notebook WWAN capability. A broadband access card can often be found at online mobile phone retailers for a good discount, or even as a free privilege, when signing up for a new data service plan from a wireless carrier.
